Eighth grade Greendale Middle School students enjoy a memorable and educational trip to Washington DC and New York City each spring. In DC, students are able to visit and have lunch in the Capitol, explore the White House grounds, tour the Smithsonian Museums, and see the FDR and MLK memorials. The students also tour Mount Vernon, pay their respects at the Pentagon September 11th Memorial and Arlington Cemetery, and see the Jefferson, Lincoln, and Eisenhower memorials.

Once students arrive in New York City, they tour the Financial District and Wall Street, visit the September 11th Memorial, and appreciate the views from the top of the One World Trade Center Observatory. The students also see a Broadway show, enjoy free time in Times Square and Fifth Avenue, take a Circle Line boat cruise tour, and visit St. Patrick's Cathedral. This is a fantastic experience filled with learning and fun that our students will never forget.

• July 25th through September 6th 2024 - Student & Adult Chaperone Trip Sign Ups with $300.00 non-refundable deposit per person submitted to the GMS Office.

  • Due to limited bus space, students who sign up first will have the best chance to go. Sign up early to assure that you will have a seat. Any requests to sign up after September 6th will depend on spacing availability. This includes chaperones.

• August 2024 - School Wide Fundraiser

  • Students who participate will receive a portion of the profits toward their individual trip.

• August 6th, 2024, 6:00 - 7:00pm - Required Student & Chaperone Informational Session

  • If unable to attend, a video version will be required.

  • Guardians of students attending the trip must be present.

  • The chaperone meeting begins directly after the student meeting concludes.

• September through Fall Break 2024 - Candy Bar Fundraiser

  • 50% profit per box sold towards individual trip.

• September 6th - Deadline for chaperones to submit all paper and Google forms, their $300 non-refundable deposit, and show proof of a completed or in-progress background check.

  • Chaperones requesting a single room need to indicate when they register. The additional cost for a single room is $750 (split between three payments is $250 per payment).

• October 2024 - TBD Fundraiser

  • Profits to go toward their individual trip. Check back later for details.

• October 25th, 2024 - GMS Dance

  • Eighth graders who assist with and participate in the dance will split the proceeds to go toward their individual trip!

• November through December 2024 - Gift Certificates Fundraiser

  • Gift Certificate Sale to local restaurants for $10 and students get $2-$3 towards their individual trip

  • GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!

• November 8th, 2024 - 2nd Deposit Payment Due!

  • For Students: $400.00

  • For Chaperones: $550.00

• January 2025 - Household Goods Fundraiser

  • Profits vary by item but all go toward their individual trip.

• February 13th, 2025 - Final Payment Due!

  • Students: $595.00 (minus any fundraiser profits earned)

  • Chaperones: $805.00 (double occupancy room)

• April 23rd, 2025 - MANDATORY MEETING

  • 5:30pm - Chaperone Meeting in GMS Commons

  • 6:45 to 8:00pm - Student/Guardian/Chaperone Meeting in GMS Gym

    •  *Due to trip safety and the importance of all the information being given, ALL students attending the trip AND one guardian must attend this MANDATORY meeting Video is not an option for this meeting.

• Friday, May 9th to Wednesday, May 14th, 2025 - Washington D.C. & New York City Trip

  • We will depart on Friday (possibly earlier but NO LATER THAN noon) and return late on Wednesday.

  • Expected return will be between 10:00pm midnight.

  • Students are expected to be at school on the following Thursday.
