IHSAA Decision Regarding 2020-2021 Physicals

I hope all of you are staying healthy and are doing well!  This morning, the IHSAA gave member schools some guidance in regards to student-athlete physicals for the 2020-2021 school year.  IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox sent an email to IHSAA Member School administrators noting that IHSAA, with the approval from the Committee of Sports Medicine of the Indiana State Medical Association, has agreed to allow member schools to use the 2019-2020 student-athlete physical and consent form for the 2020-2021 school year.

What this means for Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation student-athletes is that all current 5th graders through 11th graders who have a physical, using the approved IHSAA Physical and Consent Form,on file at either CES, GMS or LHS, will not need to get a new physical for the 2020-2021 school year.

Students who had a medical issue noted by the examining doctor on their 2019-2020 physical, will need to submit recent documentation from a doctor, that they can participate in athletics during the 2020-2021 school year, to the school that the student-athlete will be attending during the 2020-2021 school year.

Student-athletes who are new to Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation can submit their physical documentation from their previous school from 2019-2020 to their new LCSC school for the 2020-2021 school year, permitting that the 2019-2020 physical was on the approved IHSAA form.

Student-athletes who do not have a physical on file at CES, GMS, or LHS, for the 2019-2020 will need to get a new physical for the 2020-2021 school year.  All current 4th graders who plan on playing basketball in 5th grade during the 2020-2021 school year must have a new physical on file at CES before basketball begins in October.

The athletic department will send out another email, at a later date, regarding the rollover of FinalForms for the 2020-2021 school year and new registrations to FinalForms for the 2020-2021 school year.

Thanks!  Please stay safe and keep praying that we can get back to normal as soon as possible!
