Students in Miss Heiert’s class have been diving deep into learning about the four seasons and weather! 🌦️🍂❄️☀️ They’ve been exploring the different characteristics of each season and observing the weather each day using their thermometer!
Students got creative and made their very own tree models to show the cycle of the four seasons—you can see the changes of the cycle with a turn! 🌳

LPS is lucky to have such a wonderful staff! This week we are putting the spotlight on Mrs. Boggs!

In Mrs. Buddenberg’s second-grade class, students have been learning all about nutrition and how to take care of their bodies. They’ve explored different body systems, the important nutrients needed to stay healthy, and how the foods they eat help fuel their bodies each day.
To put their knowledge into action, students sorted a variety of foods into the correct groups. Then, they designed their own balanced meals on paper plates, making sure to include each of the five food groups. Their plates were filled with creative ideas and healthy choices!

🦖 Learning Like Real Paleontologists! 🦴
Our first grade DLI students were fully immersed in hands-on learning in both English and Spanish while exploring the fascinating world of fossils!
First, students created their own dinosaur fossils, learning what paleontologists discover and the stage in which fossils are found. Then, they stamped animals and plants into clay to model another way fossils can form and to better understand how this process happens in real life.
Next, students became true paleontologists by carefully excavating fossils from a “rock.” Their rock was a chocolate chip cookie, and they had to slowly carve out the chocolate chips just like scientists carefully uncover fossils in real life. 🍪🔎
Finally, we wrapped up our exploration by enjoying a delicious “Layers of the Earth” pudding, where students identified and named each layer while learning about Earth’s structure. 🌎
What a fun, engaging, and delicious way to learn about science! Our young scientists did an amazing job investigating, discovering, and thinking like real paleontologists. 👩🔬👨🔬✨

Congratulations to the members of February's SRO Club! Thanks for showing great character!

This week, Mrs. Boggs' class wrapped up an exciting and educational Presidents unit! The students spent time learning about five different U.S. presidents and their important contributions to our country.
To put their new knowledge to the test, the class participated in a mock election and voted for their favorite president! It was a fun and interactive way for the students to practice democracy and see the power of their vote!
