Staff had fun with another "Underground Spirit Week!" Students and administrators had fun guessing about their interesting attire!

Students in Mrs. Oelker’s DLI classes spent some time learning about Cesar Chavez and his important work advocating for farmworkers. They discovered how he used his voice in English to speak with farmers and in Spanish to connect with workers --- bringing people together through language.

These incredible DLI students put their own bilingual skills to work by answering questions in their CKLA workbooks in BOTH Spanish and English! We are so proud of their hard work and dedication. Look at them go! 🌟

Our Kindergarten Dual Language Immersion students are making powerful connections across languages through Rachel the Shy Jellyfish!
🩵 In Spanish, students used the story to explore emotions, build vocabulary, and strengthen social-emotional skills.
📚 In English, we bridged the same text to sharpen our CKLA focus on digraphs, turning phonics practice into meaningful, connected learning.

On our February eLearning Day LPS staff participated in a training about trauma and how it affects the body as well as behavior. Staff found this in-depth training very meaningful and are now better prepared to help our students who are having big feelings.

We are excited to celebrate January's Preschool Students of the Month! Teachers from each class select a student who has worked hard and been a good role model for their class. Keep up the great work!

This week, Mrs. Clark's afternoon class has been talking about the Winter Olympic games. What better way to end this discussion than to experience our own? Together, with Ms. Smith's class, we held an opening ceremony, tried speed skating, hockey, downhill skiing, and finished the day with a presentation of medals, certificates, and an Olympic torch snack! Our students really showed great sportsmanship, care for others, fairness, and fun!

Congratulations to this morning's Beat the Bell winners! Today we drew lucky number 8. Students who are number 8 in their class and were at school on time today, received a prize! Thanks for being to school on time!

🇺🇸 First Grade just wrapped up our “A New Nation” unit!

Students learned about the Thirteen Colonies, the Boston Tea Party, The American Revolution, George Washington, Betsy Ross, Benjamin Franklin, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, American symbols, and how America became a nation. Our teachers celebrated the end of the unit with a fun history-themed dress-up day. ❤️🤍💙

We are excited to meet our new group of Tigers for the 2026-27 school year!

We have seen an increase in the number of cars parking in the bus lane and blocking the buses during arrival and dismissal. Please refrain from parking in the bus lanes from 8:00-8:40 a.m. & 3:15-4:10 p.m. so our buses can navigate the parking lot to load and unload students. Thank you for your cooperation!

Miss Ruehlmann’s first grade class had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine’s Day! The room was filled with excitement as students rotated through fun themed stations, passed out their Valentine cards, and enjoyed a delicious "Cupid's Crunch" snack. Students worked incredibly hard creating their festive Valentine boxes — each one unique and full of creativity! It was a fun day in first grade. ❤️

Congratulations to January's SRO Club Members! Students are nominated to be in the SRO club for having the characteristics of a police officer. Students get to have lunch with Officer Schneider and get prizes! Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to January's Principal's Pride Recipients! Each month teachers choose a student from their class that follows the High 5 Expectations and works hard each day. These students get to have lunch with Mrs. Geary and receive prizes! Keep up the great work!

Today we recognized January's Awesome Authors! These students have been working hard to develop their writing skills. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to January's Rockin' Readers! Each month teachers select a student from their class that is doing a great job with reading. These students get to select a book from our Book Nook in the cafeteria to continue growing their love of reading. Keep up the great work!
